Application Service Provider
In July 2000 SSCS introduced a new service. Application Service Provider (ASP) is now available. This service offers all the benefits of the typical software license without all the up-front investments and ongoing system administration costs.

You pay a small sign-up fee and monthly rental. All programs and data are maintained by SSCS. All you need is a PC with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.

Make full use of the technology available from SSCS and the World Wide Web
Sunray ASP utilizes thin client software and your Internet browser at your retail and home office(s) to connect to the Web. Once connected, you operate the application on-line over the Internet.

The data is housed on SSCS secure servers, so daily bookkeeping, polling your POS sales, purchasing, EDI and CAO functions, as well as management reports are all performed on-line. SSCS offers the widest variety of interfaces to POS devices in the industry. This means you can use one common platform of data collection and posting programs to communicate to all your POS systems today and tomorrow. Hand-held devices, like the Symbol PDT 3100, will collect store delivery information and store audits (physical inventory counts).

Sunray ASP has a low-cost startup
Sunray customers do not need to invest in new computer hardware and communications systems usually required. A startup fee and flat monthly fee is all that is needed for you to begin using the Sunray ASP service. This EFT monthly fee includes software, support, updates, system maintenance, and dedicated storage space. All hardware, on-site training costs and travel are billed separately.

SSCS personnel manage the applications resources for you
The installation and on-going maintenance of the applications, server, database, communication network, firewalls, etc. are all administered by a competent staff of SSCS technicians who have the expertise to manage and maintain your system. The site and home office workstations connect via a web browser to the server at SSCS’ Sunray Internet site. Your database and applications are stored, maintained and administered completely by SSCS, the people who developed your application.
