SSCS does not guarantee the performance of laptops or any machine designed for home use such
as the Dell Dimension, Gateway, or eMachines systems. Below are the minimum recommended
hardware and software requirements necessary for using the
Computerized Daily Book software.
For optimum use, use the following or better items.
Single User System
- PC with 500 MHz or higher processor, Celeron not recommended
- 128 MB RAM
- 4GB hard drive space available
- 3 1/2", 1.44 MB capacity floppy disk drive
- CD-ROM drive
- parallel port (default to ECP)
- serial port for poller interface (COM1, not needed for P-Poll, N-PollWin, C-Poll, R-Poll, or T-Poll)
- serial port for hand-held-scanning package (COM2)
- serial port with external modem or internal modem for pcAnywhere (COM3/IRQ5)
- SVGA monitor capable of 1024 by 768 resolution
- Printer which works with Windows (such as a laser printer or inkjet printer)
- Lexmark 2390/2490 forms printer for continuous forms (such as work orders)
- 56 Kbps baud Sportster modem with dedicated phone line (no features), no Win modems
- pcAnywhere 9.2 (Windows XP Professional users must use pcAnywhere 10.5)
- Windows 2000 (Service Pack 2) Professional or Windows XP Professional - do not "upgrade"
over an existing version of Windows to meet these requirements
- Hardlock from SSCS for parallel port or USB port
- non-floppy back-up drive of 100 MB or more (may be an additional hard drive,
Zip/Jaz/Ditto/Buz, CD-RW with DirectCD driver, etc.)
