Work Orders Using ALLDATA Information System Interface

DESIGNED FOR:

  • Auto Repair Shops (service stations that do repairs for foreign and domestic cars and light trucks)

Requires:

  • The ALLDATA Service Advisor as a minimum.
  • Computerized Daily Book , A/R, Vehicle History and Inventory modules.

Estimates
Can be generated using the ALLDATA program on the same PC as you are running the Computerized Daily Book or on a workstation on the network.

Labor Text
View all the labor text of any estimate in ALLDATA or in the CDB work order screens. This text can be altered in the CDB by the mechanics to reflect any additional activity that occurred.

Parts
ALLDATA contains all parts for automobiles and light trucks, domestic and foreign.

Maintenance Schedules
ALLDATA will even help you build estimates based on manufacturers recommended service levels. Coupled with a good follow-up program like the CDB offers, this is a great way to increase sales in your bays.

Integrates to the CDB
By clicking the mouse on the Run ASCIMATE button, from the ALLDATA menu, all estimates are displayed on the screen. You merely select the one(s) you want to transfer to the CDB and press ESC. That quickly, they are placed into the work order section of the CDB.

Computerized Daily Book (CDB)
The Computerized Daily Book program will permit you to do Follow-up, Inventory, Commissions/Employee Productivity, Vehicle History, while you create the work order. It even permits you to accept payments by cash, check, or credit card, or update your A/R files by charging the sale. Any work order not closed will remain in the open tag file until the authorized operator enters a method of payment or deletes the transaction.

The CDB helps you manage margins. The Technician or Service writer merely enters the cost of the part on the work order and the CDB calculates your desired margin. This feature virtually assures that your parts will be sold at the correct price so you get the margins you want.

Supplies are an ongoing expense in the operation of your shop. Have you ever wished you could recover part of the cost of the supplies? Items that are used while performing a service such as topping off washer fluid when you do a LOF, or topping off brake fluid when you do a brake job are usually not billed on the work order.

Today a very common practice is to bill these supplies as a percentage of parts or labor or both. The CDB permits you to establish a Supplies Expense based on parts or labor with a minimum and maximum charge per work order. This Supplies charge can be turned on or off at will by the operator with the proper password authority. Imagine collecting an additional $3.00 per work order to recover these expenses.

A good Customer Retention Management program is the best method known today to keep the customer you have as well as add new customers. The CDB offers the operator the ability to setup and track promotions, do customer follow up mailings easily. There is no need to send a copy of a work order which 15% of the time can't be interpreted to a third party to key in data and charge you to do a job which you can do easily at a much lower cost.
