Salinas, CA (May 14, 2010) --Service Station Computer Systems, Inc.
(SSCS) and Gilbarco announce the introduction of a seamless, automated
multi-item promotions program. The new solution allows mix and match and combo
promotions to be programmed and managed through the combined Computerized Daily
Book for Windows (CDBWin) back office system and Passport®
point-of-sale (POS).
SSCS allows centralized configuration of the promotions
through the coordinated implementation of the NAXML standard data formats by
Gilbarco and SSCS, an added convenience of great benefit to the user.
“In the past, users couldn't program multi-item promotions
in the CDBWin BOS and send them up to the POS,” states Al Stoeberl, SSCS vice
president of sales and marketing. “Nor could promotions in the POS be sent back
and recognized by the BOS. In short, there wasn't enough flexibility in the
systems to handle the variety of multi-item promotions indigenous to the c-store
environment. Now we have a remedy to the problem.”
The system is robust, maintaining the integrity of mix and
match/combo discounts as they are transferred back and forth between CDBWin and
the Passport. A wide mix of product combinations can be stored and recalled. The
proper application of discounts occurs with no additional effort on the part of
the POS operator: he or she simply scans the item or items, as usual.
"The ability to manage promotions, such as mix and match,
is a huge benefit in today's market," states Mikey Fradin, Gilbarco director of
POS systems, "and the turnkey solution provided for Passport by SSCS allows for
simple execution by our customers."
In addition to the above advantages, the programming
solution offers:
- Clear, precise reporting that assists in the evaluation of promotions.
- Tighter inventory control—each item sold in the promotion is recorded accurately and adjustments do not have to be made after the fact, reducing human error and increasing the reliability of line item sales reports.
- Assured compatibility because SSCS and Gilbarco Veeder-Root data formats use the Petroleum Convenience Alliance for Technology Standards’ (PCATS) XML standard, known as PCATS-NAXML.
“It has been gratifying and a pleasure to partner with
Gilbarco to bring our mutual customers the best mix and match programming
feature in the industry,” adds Stoeberl. “Our accomplishment illustrates the
upside of teamwork. We look forward to a long, fruitful relationship with this
market innovator.”
