SSCS Celebrates Grand Opening of New Building and 20th Anniversary
Salinas, CA, (July 31, 2001)--Service Station Computer Systems celebrated
its 20-year anniversary on July 31, 2001 by moving into its newly built offices,
headquartered in Salinas. The new 23,000-foot facility took a year to build according to the company's
President, Kerry Lugo. About 200 people attended the Grand Opening event, which hosted guided tours, music, and
a banquet. Many of the attendees were long-time customers and vendors of the company, who traveled
from as far away as Florida to attend.
Kerry said "Our customers love it when we tell them that the company, throughout its history,
has maintained a very conservative fiscal policy, which includes no borrowing. The company has remained
debt-free for most of its history and, as a policy, does not make investments unless it has the cash."
When asked if this includes the new facilities, Kerry said, "Yes, the company owns both land and building outright,
and our customers appreciate knowing that they are doing business with a strong company, which will be strong enough
to survive the most difficult financial times. SSCS is the oldest company serving the Retail Petroleum
industry--since 1981. We were the first company to serve the industry. We have seen many come and go
in that time. We just keep growing and our products and services are unequalled."
